SIMPYC Project

The expected results of the project are as follows:

1. An Environmental Action Programme capable of harmonising the measures to be developed within port environments, whilst coordinating the actions carried out by the Ports and the Councils.

2. The establishmentof integrated control systems for air pollution and port-activity derived noise monitoring, among other factors.

3. An Indicator System that is to be managed by means of a control mechanism that enables the evaluation and monitoring of the actions carried out by means of the Environmental Action Programme.

4. A guide for the implantation of Environmental Action Plans in small commercial, fishing and/or leisure ports.

5. A social awareness-raising campaign, with special emphasis on children

6. A public participation plan, organised around public meetings, debate forums, surveys, etc.

7. A recommendations and good practice guide aimed at minimising the noise derived from port activities.

8. A web service that will enable information to be obtained relative to the project’s progress, the indicator values obtained, as well as facilitating public participation through opinion forums, etc.

9. The celebration of the first International Meeting on port-city relationships as contemplated from an environmental standpoint.
