International Simpyc Workshop is held in Valencia

On 22nd November the VPA hosted an International Simpyc Workshop.

The opening address was given by Rafael Aznar, President of the Valencia Port Authority, Lourdes Bernal, Regional Health Minister, and Jesús Poncela, Assistant Director for Safety and the Environment of Puertos del Estado.

At this workshop, project partners provided an update of the results as well as related issues in order to obtain a global view of environmental actions taking place within the framework of port-city relations.

The results of the MADAMA Project on Dangerous Goods Management in the Mediterranean Area were presented on 23 November. This project is financed by the European Commission within the Interreg IIIB Medocc Programme, due to run for of 18 months (completion due in March 2008), and with the principal aim of understanding, defining and harmonising all actions concerning monitoring and protecting the hazardous goods traffic chain. In this way, MADAMA aims to contribute towards improving safety management and risk management in the Mediterranean area by applying ITC solutions to help achieve sustainable mobility and better environmental protection.
