24/09/07 Social Awareness and Involvement Plans get underway.

After the study was completed on information requirements and the target groups had been identified, the initiatives adopted for each port and city in their Social Involvement Plans were put into action.

The purpose of the awareness plan was to communicate with/inform/create awareness among the general public, in particular the young, their families and workers’ collectives in port areas of the opportunities the port offers as a recreational and educational area. Beliefs generate attitudes and these precede action. In this way, an attempt has been made to sequentially generate adequate beliefs in terms of what the port has to offer which will allow positive attitudes to be developed which translate into port-city interaction initiatives.

Thus, Field Notebooks have been designed which are aimed at the very young. Information leaflets on environmental actions carried out in the ports have been printed, and good practice and dissemination material has been made available at youth forums.
