23/01/08 The Implementation and Revision of the Indicator System have been completed
In December, the implementation, revision and improvement of the Indicator System were completed. After developing an Integrated Balanced Scorecard which determined the organisational structure of the system and assigned responsibilities and tasks, work began on implementing and revising it although both actions will continue in order to periodically monitor the environmental aspects. The system was designed using the same criteria to simplify a comparison of the results in the study areas.
The project partners of Toulon, Livorno and Valencia adapted the environmental indicators to their particular circumstances and improved and modified them during the implementation process in accordance with the environmental variables they measured.
In January, staff involved in managing the Indicator System will be trained to increase awareness on the advantages of monitoring environmental aspects through a system of indicators and the importance of providing accurate data in order to create a system which is accurate, practical and useful. The course will explain what indicators are, how they are used, and procedures for creating each one.
