19/06/06 Completion of the Environmental Diagnoses in all areas of study.

The Environmental Diagnoses carried out in the ports and city councils of Livorno, Tuolon, and Valencia and the ports of Denia and Villajoyosa have been completed.

These studies have been carried out in two phases. The first phase involved making a technical analysis of each port and city to determine the current situation. In order to ensure the same criteria were applied in the three study areas, a general index was drawn up of the minimum contents of the study so the same pattern would be followed in each case. As the environmental aspects in the ports and cities are different, separate indexes were drawn up for each one.

The second phase involved making a qualitative diagnosis to establish the general public’s perception of environmental problems in ports and municipalities. To this end, questionnaires have been completed in Toulon, Livorno and Valencia. Therefore, it is not only technical aspects that have been taken into account in the environmental diagnoses but also social aspects which will come into play at a later stage in the preparation of an Awareness and Social Involvement Plan based on the results obtained in this phase.
